Stage description

The day begins with a long but gradual ascent upto the Col De Balme with it’s picturesque refuge on the pass that marks the border with France. Superb Views of Mont Blanc and the Chamonix valley stretched before you. Returning to the Chamonix Valley from here is a very pleasant walk. Col de La Balme is the furthest point from the summit of Mont Blanc but walking along the ridge of the Aiguillette des Posettes on your right side allows for the enjoyment of panoramic view of lovely snow domes that will remain in sight for most of the descent into Tre-le-Champ. The alternative route in bad weather is to cut straight down into the valley from the summit of Col De Balme, following one of the tracks used by walkers and mountain bikers.
