How are our Mont Blanc Treks different?

RAW Travel offers various trips on the TMB with both guided and self-guided options. Our guides are all English speaking natives who are ‘International Mountain Leader’ qualified. So you will get good, detailed briefings each day from your leader and be able to understand them! They are professionals who know the area and the Mont Blanc circuit intimately and the guides take safety very seriously so you are in good hands. Safety is not something you want to compromise with a trip of this nature!

We operate small groups with a maximum of 12 people and guaranteed to depart with just 6 people on any date. So you have a more personal experience and better support and attention from your walking leader. A very attractive part of our guided trips is that they use private rooms in small hotels and refuges, so you are assured of a better night’s rest than if you sleep in the dormitories as other groups do ( Believe us you’ll appreciate this when you’re there!)

We also bring a number of fresh food supplies to supplement the breakfasts that are provided in the refuges. Typically a refuge may have basic breakfasts Continental style – we supplement this with fresh fruit and other supplies. Not only is this more appealing to your tastebuds but you need to have a nutritious and filling breakfast for the day ahead!

All our group trips have your luggage transferred with our own dedicated RAW travel driver and van whilst you are walking. With minibus transportation of luggage, this allows you to carry light day packs while hiking and to skip a stage of the hike if necessary. We also offer self-guided options where you can choose your own departure dates and have your own adventure – secure in the knowledge that all your accommodation is booked for you and your luggage transferred each day.

Our Guided trips offer the greatest level of support as you will be accompanied by an experienced mountain guide who knows the trails and can make decisions for the groups safety. Your fellow walkers on these trips will usually be Australian and Kiwi. Just to emphasise the difference again – Our trips stay in private rooms in the refuges and Hotels rather than dormitories so you are assured of a better night’s sleep each night and privacy.

The trek around Mont Blanc is said to be one of Europe’s best mountain walks and you’ll get a chance to appreciate the different cultures, cuisines and people whilst you hike through glorious Alpine scenery. The spectacular circuit around Mont Blanc demands some respect. From the massif of Mont Blanc (4801m- the highest mountain in western Europe), seven valleys extend into France, Italy and Switzerland. Each valley retains its own unique culture, architecture and landscape and it’s through these valleys you will hike. Each day you trek up to the ridges and descend into valleys below, with time to enjoy views of snow-capped peaks, green mountain meadows and glaciers.

Tour du Mont Blanc Highlights, July 2018

Simply amazing. I am really not that enthusiastic about outdoorsy travel but this was an awesome trip. Our guide (Dave Barber) was outstanding. He was the best of all worlds, professional while being laid back, organized without being too rigid, and very motivational. We had 3 teenage girls and he did a great job keeping them interested.

Michele Beard, Aug 2016

We were fortunate to have Gary as our guide. His breadth of knowledge and caring nature contributed to the success of the trip. Also loved the variety of accommodation from refugio to 4 star hotel. Having our own room was a bonus.

Judith Watson, August 2016

“From the initial Raw travel enquiry to the arrival home the support received from RAW travel personnel has been at all times helpful and professional. Tour group dynamics were excellent due to good leadership from Dave Mitchell and flexibility of participants. Mitch was able to provide a great trip to remember for all with consideration given to the level of experience and abilities of group members. Seeing accommodation options on the trek we appreciated that Raw travel booked good standard clean rooms.”

Sandra Lowther, VIC – July 2014

TMB is a bucket list experience, the scenery is fantastic – it’s like walking in a postcard every day. The walk is challenging in places which is good for keen walkers and learning about the history/culture of the mountains was excellent. This was a truly memorable time thanks

Paula Ryan, QLD – Aug 2014

The Mont Blanc Circuit is a fantastic hike and I would definitely recommend it to anyone. We were spoilt with amazing views the entire time so it was impossible to take a bad photo. RAW Travel ensured everything ran smoothly from the booking, the time leading up to the trip, during the trek and after! They were easy to contact and replied efficiently with all the information I needed. I will be booking my next adventure through RAW Travel with no hesitation. Thanks guys for an awesome trip” 🙂

Vicki Smith, VIC, – Aug 2013

“I found Raw Travel is the kind of company that can provide a very personalised service which other larger companies couldn’t match. This included pre-trip training hikes, lots of pre-trip travel advice, and excellent guides on the trek who really added an extra dimension of enjoyment to the whole experience. Very well done, Raw Travel, I look forward to trekking with you again!”
David Hall, Canberra – June 2011

I have never experienced such incredibly beautiful, ever-changing views (and we live and hike in Colorado). It was challenging but for the most part, the guides set a reasonable pace. Our picnic lunch spots were spectacular–in alpine meadows with gorgeous views. And we had nice long breaks for lunch. Also, the hikes ended around 4 to 5 p.m. so we had a chance to shower and rest before the delicious dinners.
Joan Nagel, USA – Sept 2012

“Words can never describe the beauty of our surroundings, day in day out. The blue of the sky, the green of the mountainsides, the white of snow capped Mt Blanc beside us, and the carpet of beautiful alpine flowers at ground level, was breathtaking, and in themselves worth doing the trek to see. RAW Travel is absolute experts in this style of travel, and after travelling with them on this trip, I can see why”.
