New Mont Blanc Skyway is a hit

The newly opened Mont Blanc Skyway cable car in Courmayeur on the Italian side of the TMB is proving to be a huge drawcard for visitors, winter & summer. The futuristic cablecar  rotates to give 360 views during it’s speedy ascent; covering 7,200 feet of total climb in just nine minutes.Skyway ‘eco’ cable cars consists of a lift powered entirely by solar panels and renewable energy from the facility’s own mechanisms. Coined “The 8th Wonder of the World” the project cost 110 Million ($121,086,750 US) and took three years to complete. The new cable car system allows for unprecedented views of the surrounding areas and gives summer visitors improved access to the Italian side of Mt. Blanc. It also allows for quicker access to the Vallees Blanche area on the French side of Mount Blanc. The cable car terminates at “The Eagles Nest” at 11,371 feet. This station offers cafes & restaurants, and scenic terraces that provide stunning views of the Matterhorn, Monte Rosa, Gran Paradiso and all incredible mountain surroundings.
