Chamonix buzzes in the Summertime with people heading into the hills and the town becomes a centre of many entertainments and festivals. For music lovers the Cosmo Jazz festival takes place from Saturday 25 of July to Sunday 2 of August 2015, in various locations around the valley and events are free of charge. The Chamonix adventure festival takes place twice a year in March 25-28 2015 and July ( dates TBC) in the town cinema and other locations, showcasing short adventure films from around the world.

 

The annual ‘Fete des Guides‘ takes place Saturday 15 of August 2015, this year with events to celebrate the bonds between the people who make their living from the Mountains, the Mountain guides and the town of Chamonix. There are sound and light] shows, concerts and a traditional ceremony.

For those of a competitive bent, the Marathon du Mont Blanc is a festival of running with different events and distances offered – takes place from Friday 26 to Sunday 28 of June 2015. Then later in the summer is the seriously hardcore Ultra Trail Tour of Mont Blanc from Monday 24 to Monday 31 of August 2015:
