New Skywalk in Chamonix

Step into the void at the newly opened Chamonix skywalk on the mountains above the town. The Chamonix Skywalk is a five-sided glass structure installed on the top terrace of the Aiguille du Midi (3842m), with a 1,000 metre drop below, where visitors can step out from the terrace into a glass box, giving the visitors the feeling of standing in the void. Each of the cube’s sides consists of three layers of glass bound together with metal supports in between. It is able to withstand 136mph winds – not that you would want to take your chances in those conditions…
The glass room opened to the public on December 21, 2013 and gives another reason to talk the wonderful cable car of Aiguille du Midi – for those brave enough to try that is!
